WJA Design Collaborative has provided Design Services for private and public entities throughout the Northwest since 1968. The 22 person firm is multidisciplinary, with professionals in architecture and interior design, landscape architecture, planning, civil and structural engineering. Work includes large scale new construction, small renovations and engineering studies and planning studies. Project types include residential, educational facilities, administrative, maintenance, fitness and training facilities. Some of the projects completed by WJA include highly specialized operations and simulation facilities. Master planning for campuses includes studies of construction phasing, utilities and infrastructure.
We are sensitive to the unique opportunities, constraints, social contexts and physical arrangements of each project. We strive to create design solutions that address these unique attributes. WJA's experience with demanding programmatic criteria and project-specific considerations has won us the confidence of our repeat clients, including government agencies such as the State of Washington, Department of Defense, educational institutions and private developers.
Design Process
WJA Design Collaborative is that – a collaborative of professionals who believe in an integrated design approach that involves all disciplines, as well as stakeholders in the project. Projects are typically initiated with a charrette; a multi-day event that defines stakeholder agendas, critical program, schedule, budget issues and sustainable design strategies.
WJA is committed to sustainable design practices. Best success from all standpoints is achieved by considering sustainable goals early in the project -- as it is during the initial phases that the greatest and most economical gains can be realized. We use an Integrated Design Approach and the knowledge and experience of our in-house professional staff of architects, structural and civil engineers, and landscape architects facilitates this process.
